Our tags are not handed out lightly; they are reserved for restaurants that genuinely cater to specific audiences. If your restaurant received certain tags and not others, it’s because we want diners to trust that each tag represents a standout experience.
Why Some Tags May Not Apply to Your Restaurant
We apply these tags only when it’s clear that your restaurant actively seeks to attract and satisfy these niche audiences with thoughtful, high-quality options and experiences. If you believe a tag should apply to your restaurant but do not see it, consider whether:
- You offer consistent and intentional accommodations for that category.
- Your menu and physical space support the experience.
- You go beyond the bare minimum to make it clear that this audience is a priority.

Factual Tags
These tags indicate the fundamental services your restaurant offers. If you provide these offerings, the tag should apply automatically.
- Lunch: Offers lunch service, a lunch menu, and an Offline offer valid for lunch.
- Dinner: Offers dinner service, a dinner menu, and an Offline offer valid for dinner.
- Breakfast: Offers breakfast service, a breakfast menu, and an Offline offer valid for breakfast.
- Brunch: Offers brunch service, a brunch menu, and an Offline offer valid for brunch.
- Good for Groups: Has a private dining area or seating that accommodates large parties (8+ people).
- Outdoor Dining: Offers an enclosed, well-maintained outdoor seating area with comfortable furnishings.
- Rooftop Views: Features a rooftop dining area.
Specialized Tags
These tags are applied only when a restaurant intentionally caters to specific audiences with dedicated offerings or accommodations.
Dietary Consideration Tags
These tags apply only if the restaurant provides clear and meaningful accommodations beyond just a single menu item.
- Vegan Friendly: Offers a dedicated vegan menu or clearly marked vegan dishes that are prepared separately from non-vegan items.
- Gluten-Free Options: Requires a dedicated gluten-free menu or clearly marked gluten-free options, along with precautions to avoid cross-contamination.
- Vegetarian Options: Features a dedicated vegetarian menu or clearly indicates vegetarian-friendly items on the menu.
Family + Pet-Friendly Tags
Restaurants must go beyond basic allowances to actively cater to these audiences.
- Kid Friendly: Provides a dedicated kids' menu, high chairs, booster seats, or a play area.
- Dog Friendly: Provides amenities like water bowls, dog treats, and creates a welcoming environment for pet owners.
Experience Tags
These tags help diners find places that match a specific ambiance or dining experience.
- (Fancy) Date Night: To qualify, your restaurant must have cloth napkins, a dinner menu that includes dessert options, and entrees that are $20+.
Category-Specific Tags
These tags apply to restaurants with a primary focus on a specific type of cuisine, beverage program, or dining experience.
- Desserts + Bakeries: Reserved for establishments where desserts, pastries, or baked goods are the main attraction. This includes bakeries, ice cream shops, and specialty dessert spots. Restaurants with strong dessert programs but full food menus do not qualify.
- Cocktail + Wine Bars: Applied to bars where the primary focus is on cocktails, wine, or spirits. Food may be available, but drinks should be the main attraction. A full-service restaurant with a strong cocktail program would not qualify under this tag.
- Cafes + Coffee Shops: Given to establishments primarily focused on coffee, tea, or light café fare. A coffee shop should emphasize beverages first, while a café might also serve a full menu but retains a strong coffee program.
